An old, worn out vanity will be an eyesore. You need to replace it with a new one. However, you should never hastily choose a vanity for the bathroom based on appearance only. Proportionality is of greatest importance. Take a look at the bathroom’s size first. If it is of medium size, a 36 inch bathroom vanity would snug comfortably inside. Make sure that the vanity you choose also matches the bathroom’s overall tone and color palette so there will be no break in proportionality. You can always repaint the vanity you already get in order that it matches the bathroom overall tone.
A 36 inch bathroom vanity can be bought either with or without a top. The one without a top would accommodate the kind of top that you personally prefer. Most vanities come with a top but it might not meet your personal preferences. Buying one without a top would make it easier for you to choose anything you like to go with it. However, purchasing a vanity and a top separately would be much more expensive as compared to getting one with complete elements.
When you buy a 36 inch bathroom vanity, make sure that it comes with a proportional size relative to hte bathroom’s size. If it is too hard for you to get accurate measurements, just find out if after placing a vanity there is room left for door opening and for movement of the occupier when in the bathroom. Don’t forget that the vanity must also accommodate plumbing so choose one that does not make it hard for installation. The vanity should also be closer to electrical switches and outlets as well as a mirror. For a medium-size bathroom, a freestanding vanity would suffice as it does not occupy too much space and offers plenty of storage.
